A multi-component sleep formulation improved sleep performance by 39% compared to the model control group, at a concentration of 114 μg/mL under experimental conditions in a preclinical zebrafish study, according to the company that developed it.
The formulation is NF TriSolve SleepRestore Complex, which Natural Field has introduced as it expands its NF TriSolve branded nutraceutical solution platform into the growing sleep wellness category. The company describes it as a coordinated formulation concept built around sleep wellness applications, integrating multiple functional components.
Natural Field commissioned Hunter Biotech to run the preclinical evaluations. According to the release, they were set up to examine the complex’s performance in sleep-related biological responses and to give a scientific basis for later formula optimization and product development.
What the release discloses, and what it does not
The behavioral assessments looked at several parameters, among them locomotor activity distance and total duration of wakefulness. The study also assessed specific sleep-related molecular markers associated with sleep-wake regulatory pathways, including gabra1, mtnr1aa, and hcrt. Changes in the expression of selected sleep-related genes were seen under the experimental conditions, which the release says adds research insight into the formulation’s sleep-related activity.
The release does not name the complex’s functional components, their ratio, an intended use level in a finished product, or a dosage form. It presents 114 μg/mL as the concentration used under experimental conditions, not as a use level for a finished supplement.
The company notes the results come from a preclinical zebrafish model intended to support scientific research and formulation development, and should not be interpreted as clinical evidence regarding humans. Human clinical trials related to this formula are also being planned, the release states.
For a product developer, that is concept-stage information rather than specification-stage information: the endpoints and the tested concentration are on record, the composition and the finished-format guidance are not. Formulations that reached clinical evaluation in this category, such as sleep gummies combining L-theanine, melatonin, and chamomile, disclose their actives.
Before the commissioned study, and during the complex’s development, the company states it ran a series of scientific evaluations covering formula design, the synergy of functional ingredients, and application development requirements. Those included cellular validation, analysis of active ingredient levels, and assessments of in vitro absorption characteristics. The release does not report what those assessments found.
