One vanilla-essenced capsule a day is the format of Perimenopause Health, the hormone-free supplement Ritual launched on September 15, 2026, and its key ingredients include a high-potency shatavari extract, DIM, vitamin B6, and evening primrose oil, according to the company [1].
For product developers, the substance is the pairing, which the company says is meant to support hormone balance, estrogen metabolism, and perimenopause symptoms: a shatavari extract it describes as clinically studied in perimenopausal women, DIM to help support healthy estrogen metabolism, and evening primrose oil included to help support the absorption of DIM [1].
The release states that the supplement was developed in partnership with OB/GYNs (obstetrician-gynecologists) on its Scientific Advisory Board to support hormone balance for women over 40 or those experiencing perimenopausal symptoms [1]. Its one cited reference, a 2025 survey paper in the journal Women, is attached to its statement that approximately 2 million women begin perimenopause each year in the United States [1, 2].
What shatavari and DIM are
Shatavari is Asparagus racemosus, which a 2013 review describes as a well-known Ayurvedic rasayana, considered both a general tonic and a female reproductive tonic, with steroidal saponins (shatavarins I to IV) in the roots as the major active constituents [3]. The portal’s review of ashwagandha, another Ayurvedic botanical, covers the standardization and dosing questions such an extract raises.

DIM is 3,3′-diindolylmethane, a plant indole found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and kale, and a dimer of indole-3-carbinol [4]. The release describes DIM as fat-soluble and states that it helps the body break estrogen down to a metabolite the release calls more beneficial, to help support healthy estrogen balance [1].
The company states that the shatavari extract is clinically studied to support mood, ease hot flashes and night sweats, and improve sleep in as little as 4 weeks, and to support vaginal dryness and ease physical and mental fatigue in as little as 8 weeks [1]. It adds that vitamin B6 supports hormonal activity and may help support mood, and that evening primrose oil has been shown to help ease hot flashes [1]. The release attaches the Food and Drug Administration not-evaluated notice to each of these statements [1].
The extract is described as high-potency, but the release gives no standardization marker, assay, or amount per capsule, the compound-level question that portal coverage of standardization and bioavailability challenges for adaptogenic extracts puts at the center of extract selection. On absorption, the release states, without citing a study, that science shows combining fat-soluble DIM with a lipid source can help support absorption of DIM, its reason for including evening primrose oil, and gives no amount for either [1]. Portal coverage of curcumin-loaded lipid nanoparticles gives a measured example of a lipid carrier raising a lipophilic bioactive’s bioaccessibility.
“Perimenopause is something half the world’s population will experience, yet it’s remained an afterthought in product innovation and clinical research.”
Katerina Schneider, Founder and CEO of Ritual
Mastaneh Sharafi, Ph.D., RD, Senior Vice President of Science and Innovation at Ritual, said the company knew it had the right scientific foundation to enter the category once it had found “a shatavari extract with robust clinical research conducted specifically in perimenopausal women” and had brought together OB/GYN expertise through its Scientific Advisory Board to help develop the formula [1]. She added, referring to follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH):
“Shatavari doesn’t just target one symptom in isolation. It’s been studied to support healthy levels of estrogen, progesterone, FSH, and LH, along with healthy cortisol levels. Its potency allows us to deliver the studied level of active compounds at a lower daily dose than many other shatavari extracts on the market today.”
Mastaneh Sharafi, Ph.D., RD, Senior Vice President of Science and Innovation at Ritual
Ritual said the formula contains no added synthetic hormones and that Perimenopause Health is NSF Certified, Non-GMO Project Verified, Clean Label Project Purity Award-certified, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, and third-party tested for heavy metals and microbes [1].
What a formulator cannot take from the release is the extract’s standardization, the per-capsule amount of any named ingredient, or the capsule shell and fill: those are the details to request from the supplier.
