Lemon Balm and PEA Phytosomes Launch for Sleep and Joint Support
Two new phytosome formulas, a melatonin-free lemon balm product for sleep and stress and a palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) product for joint and muscle comfort, extend a supplement brand’s phospholipid-complex range, with the company citing 3x better sleep versus placebo and 6x better absorption than standard micronized PEA.
Enzymedica announced on August 19, 2026 the launch of Sleep & Stress Lemon Balm Phytosome and Joint & Muscle PEA Phytosome, two formulas that the company states use enhanced absorption technology to support everyday resilience, relaxation, and recovery.
According to the release, the Phytosome technology pairs botanical compounds with phospholipids so that key ingredients are absorbed and used more efficiently by the body. The release does not name the clinical studies behind either product.
Phytosomes and PEA: the two ingredient formats

In the pharmaceutical literature, a phytosome, or phospholipid complex, is a plant active bound to phospholipids containing phosphatidylcholine, most often from soybean, through hydrogen bonds rather than covalent bonds, and the amphiphilic complex is reported to improve the bioavailability of both hydrophilic and lipophilic actives [2]. Comparable phospholipid-based delivery platforms have been covered on this portal, and phytosome systems shown at Vitafoods Europe 2026 were positioned there as a route to lower doses of botanical actives.
PEA is an endogenous fatty acid amide of the N-acyl-ethanolamine family, synthesized on demand in cell membranes and present in almost all tissues of the body [3]. It is highly lipophilic, its oral absorption profile has been described as highly dependent on its molecular size, and micronized and nano-sized PEA formulations have been developed to improve absorption [3].
For Sleep & Stress, the company reports clinical findings of 3x better sleep, with participants reporting that they slept longer, fell asleep faster, and woke less often versus placebo, and of improved mood and outlook, with participants reporting emotional balance, overall well-being, and a more positive mindset.
The company states that the formula features clinically studied Lemon Balm Phytosome to help promote a calm and relaxed mood, and describes it as vegan, non-habit-forming, and designed for flexible use: at night or when needed to support more restful sleep, or in the daytime to promote calm, in a 60-count format. The release does not state the phospholipid source.
Absorption is the problem the launch is built around: the company’s senior marketing group director positioned both products against supplements designed to help with sleep, stress, and movement, many of which, the release states, are not well absorbed. For formulators, the claimed differentiation sits in the delivery format rather than in a new active, since the release itself describes the formula as combining a time-trusted botanical with delivery technology, and PEA is already the main ingredient of supplements marketed in various countries [3].

“We’re all chasing more sleep, less stress and more movement, but many supplements designed to help aren’t well absorbed.”
For Joint & Muscle, the headline figure is 6x better absorption than standard micronized PEA, which the company lists among the product’s clinical findings. The comparator matters: micronized PEA is itself a form developed to improve on the absorption of conventional PEA [3]. The company states that the formula works with the body’s own calming pathways, supporting nerve signaling, physical resilience, and a healthy inflammatory response, and that it is supplied in a 45-count format.
“Phytosome® is designed to enhance absorption, to help your body better utilize these ingredients.”
Enzymedica said in its statement that the two launches join its Berberine Phytosome in a growing collection of supplements designed to improve bioavailability, a reference consistent with the portal’s earlier coverage of berberine’s poor oral bioavailability and the delivery systems built to address it.
The firm added that Joint & Muscle promotes comfort, mobility, and recovery, from everyday movement as well as from physical activity. For product developers evaluating the format, the details the release leaves out are the ones a formulation brief would need: the design, dose, and pharmacokinetic measure behind both headline figures, the lemon balm extract standardization, and the phospholipid ratio and source.
