Abstract
Seppic strengthens evidence for SEPIBLISS™, its nutraceutical coriander extract, with a new clinical study on skin anti-aging and UV protection as well as a new consumer study on wellbeing for a holistic support to beauty.
The skin, our primary barrier against the external world, is constantly subjected to several environmental and internal stressors, collectively known as the skin exposome. These aggressions can disrupt skin homeostasis, leading to skin hyperreactivity, unpleasant sensations and accelerated aging. As a result, it can affect one’s self-perception and overall wellbeing. This highlights the importance of a holistic approach to beauty.
To support this comprehensive approach and protect the skin from within, Seppic developed SEPIBLISS™, a patented coriander based active ingredient for supplements.
Prior research, encompassing two gold-standard clinical studies conducted on women with reactive skin, has established SEPIBLISS™’s efficacy in UV protection and skin soothing [1]. Furthermore, in-vitro investigations have demonstrated its anti-inflammatory and neurosoothing attributes [2].
Seppic releases positive results obtained from a new clinical study on the ingredient and a new consumer test, strengthening the existing evidence for SEPIBLISS™.
“The new data confirm the value of SEPIBLISS™ as a key active ingredient for all skins, including the most reactive. SEPIBLISS™ cultivates holistic beauty and well-being, recognizing the intrinsic link between skin beauty and inner wellness”, states Salma ZAHIDI, Product Manager, Nutrition.
The new clinical study involved 99 healthy women aged between 35 and 65 years old, presenting visible signs of skin aging, who were supplemented with 100 mg/day or 200 mg/day of SEPIBLISS™ Oil for a period of two months.
Key findings from this clinical study include:
- Younger Skin Appearance: Significant reduction in wrinkle depth and increased skin firmness achieved after only two weeks with both dosage levels, with a 9% decrease in crow’s feet wrinkles depth observed after 2 months with 100mg/day.
- Enhanced Skin Barrier Function: a significant 9% reduction in transepidermal water loss after 1 month of supplementation with 200mg/day, with similar results observed with 100mg/day.
- Reduced UV-Induced Erythema: a significant 18% decrease of skin erythema was observed after 2 months of supplementation with a daily dose of 200mg/day.
- Protection Against Oxidative Stress: Demonstrated reduction in skin lipid peroxidation following UV exposure, as indicated by a decrease in malondialdehyde levels measured on skin strippings.
Beyond its direct benefits for the skin, SEPIBLISS™ also contributes to consumers’ overall well-being. A consumer study involving 89 healthy men and women aged 18 and over, experiencing moderate stress levels, reported significant improvements in self-perceived well-being, enhanced mood, and increased self-confidence after a two-month daily intake of SEPIBLISS™ Oil.
